  • This is the first episode that started the series after its three-year hiatus.
  • This is the first time, the porch entrance and exit are used in the show.
  • Rogers took the show behind the scenes on the set of The Incredible Hulk, which aired on CBS from 1978 to 1982.
  • This is the first time, a new version of the Mister Rogers' Neighborhood intro was used. Usually, the camera goes from the Neighborhood model to out on the porch of the Mister Rogers' television house, where the viewers see Mister Rogers coming for a visit before he enters the house.
  • This was one of the few operas of the series to take up the entire 30 minutes of the episode.
  • This is the only episode in the show's history that does not feature the Mister Rogers' Neighborhood logo in the opening. Instead, about 8 seconds into the beginning, the episode title, "Mister Rogers Makes an Opera", appears. This is also the only time, in which Mister Rogers does not change into his sweater. Instead, Mister Rogers is already in it when he enters the porch.
